CNA Training
If you have thought about becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant, or CNA, then you have probably asked yourself just what sort of training is involved, and how you go about getting it.
CNA training will not only give you the skills you need to become a certified nursing assistant, but will also open up the door for you, and make it easier to get your foot in the door, if you wish to continue on to a higher level of training in the health care industry, such as a registered nurse, or even a doctor.
It is not difficult to get the CNA training you need to become a CNA, however it is not quite a walk in the park either. There is quite a bit of information that you need to take in, and you will need most of it on a day to day basis, while you are performing your duties as a CNA.
The CNA training will last anywhere from one month to ix months, depending on where you go, and how much time you can devote to the training itself.
CNA training is incredibly easy to find. There are numerous community colleges and nursing school which offer the CNA training program, and you can even find free training programs provided by organizations such as the Red Cross, or similar.
If a classroom is not your cup of tea, you can complete 85% of the CNA training you need to become a CNA online via many courses you can find by searching a bit on the internet. You will still be required to go in and complete an in-class portion, but this is an excellent option for those of you who want to do the course at your own pace.
There are even some free courses available online, however, they generally ask you to pay a fee for writing the exams, and the in-class practical parts will have a fee associated with them as well.
As part of your CNA training, you will also be expected to pass two different exams: The Clinical Exam, and the Theoretical Exam:
The Clinical Exam:
First, let's take a gander at the clinical exam. You might be required to bring along a volunteer, so that you can demonstrate various things such as how you interact with patients, how to take vital signs and other readings, and also the hygiene requirements and safety procedures which you learned during your CNA training.
During this exam you will be required to showcase between 2 and 5 different aspects of your CNA training.
The Theoretical Exam:
The theoretical exam, while it may sound scary, is nothing of the sort. This is a simple written exam, generally consisting of multiple choice questions. Just think back to your high school finals, they weren't bad were they? Well this exam is the same style as those, so don't sweat it. As long as you study, and there are plenty of materials available online for free to do this, then you will do just fine. |
